Disclaimer: Our VIP Tour tickets to the Grand Ole Opry were kindly sponsored by Visit Music City & Grand Ole Opry. However, as always, all thoughts and opinions are entirely my own. I will continue to promote only properties, destinations, products and services that I truly believe in 100%, and would wholeheartedly recommend to others.

Grand Ole Opry: A dream come true for this country lover

I have been a country music lover for as long as I can remember, growing up on the music of Garth Brooks, Tim McGraw, Reba McEntire and the like with inspiration from my stepdad. He was a born and raised country boy and he instilled a love of the music (and horses!) in me from a young age. We didn’t listen to Christmas music during Christmas – we listened to country Christmas albums. So naturally, an offer to visit the Opry in true VIP fashion was a dream come true (and a must-do!) for me during my Nashville visit.

What to Expect with the Grand Ole Opry’s Behind the Curtain VIP Tour

There’s nothing like experiencing the Grand Ole Opry from the perspective of the Opry’s Behind the Curtain VIP Tour. For this tour, an exclusive group of fans are invited for a true VIP backstage experience, where they will get up close and personal with the excitement and magic of everything the Grand Ole Opry has to offer.

Once inside, you are escorted through the Opry’s backstage area by a knowledgeable insider, who will thoroughly teach you about the history of the famous show as they show you the backstage areas firsthand. You’ll get to see the artists’ dressing rooms, the mailbox area, and much more.

You’ll learn about the inner workings of the show and watch Opry staff members and musicians buzzing around, preparing for the performances. And best of all, you’ll get to stand on the side of the stage as the big red curtain is raised, where you will be able to watch the first performance of the night from this vantage point. Afterwards, you’ll be personally escorted to your seats where you can enjoy the rest of the show and grab a glass of wine if you like.

I took my friend Crystal along for this experience, and we were truly floored with how incredible this tour is. We were able to meet Austin Burke backstage during our tour, and then later watch him get inducted to the Grand Ole Opry! Mark Wills, someone I had grown up listening to, gave a truly a wonderful performance. Finally Charles Esten (Deacon from the TV show ‘Nashville’) made a surprise performance, which was basically the highlight of our entire lives. And that’s what you can expect from Opry shows – performances from incredible newcomers, amazing Opry classics and exciting surprises alike. In short – the Opry did not (and does not) disappoint.

If you’re planning on going to the Opry anyway, I highly, highly, HIGHLY recommend upgrading your ticket to the VIP Tour.

Grand Ole Opry History:

As per opry.com:

“It began on the night of Nov. 28, 1925, when an announcer on Nashville radio station WSM introduced fiddle player Uncle Jimmy Thompson as the first performer on a new show called “The WSM Barn Dance.” Now, over 90 years later, the show Hay started is still going strong. Along the way, it has launched countless country music careers and led the way for Nashville to become Music City.”
