We started our Belize honeymoon in Placencia at the absolutely gorgeous and charming Chabil Mar Villas, and we couldn’t have chosen a better resort to kick off our honeymoon!

Chabil Mar Luxury Villas – The Best of Both Worlds, in Belize
If you’re like me, when trying to decide on accommodation for a relaxing vacation, it can feel like a bit of a “push-pull” scenario between choosing the privacy and comfort of a vacation rental, and the luxurious amenities and convenience of an all-inclusive resort.
One of our favorite things right away about Chabil Mar is that you don’t have to choose between the two while staying here!
Chabil Mar is an all-villa property, meaning that you feel like you’re in a vacation rental while staying in a luxury resort with all the amenities you could want (and some that go even above and beyond, such as roaming butler service and al fresco dining – more about that below!)
Located in popular and quaint Placencia, the location of Chabil Mar is perfect if you want to hit the beaches, and also explore all that cute and colorful Placencia has to offer.
Where is Chabil Mar located?
Chabil Mar is located between the beautiful beaches dotted across Placencia, Belize, which is a popular spot for both vacations and retirement. It’s a fishing village that has managed to largely escape the mass of tourism that has overtaken popular San Pedro on Ambergris Caye, Belize.
Chabil Mar is very special in that it is the only beachfront, guest-exclusive resort in Placencia, and you’ll feel like you’re miles away from other resorts and tourists on your own little slice of beachfront heaven.
We drove to Placencia from Mexico, where we were living at the time of departure for our honeymoon. However, most guests arrive to Placencia via the local airport, where they are then personally greeted by Chabil Mar staff and offered a cool towel and water, then transported via a short 5-minute transfer (complimentary) to the lush beachfront resort.

What is the food like at Chabil Mar?
The meals at Chabil Mar were some of the best meals we experienced during our month and a half spent in Belize, which spanned 14 different hotels and resorts!
They pride themselves on offering a modern approach to traditionally-inspired Belizean culture, with unique flavors and presentations. Their chef uses the freshest possible ingredients and creates everything from scratch on all of their dishes. My favorites were their in-house soup creations (delicious!), and Mitch was particularly fond of the pasta and seafood options. No matter your dining preferences and dietary requirements, there will be something for everyone at Chabil Mar.
The best part – you can dine wherever you’d like on the property, with roaming butler service!

One evening, we had the romantic set up dinner on the beach during sunset and it was indeed incredibly romantic and memorable!
What are the accommodation options at Chabil Mar?
Chabil Mar is an all-villa luxury property, providing absolutely top-notch accommodation options in Belize.
Each villa is beautiful and unique, with sea-facing views. The villas proudly display local artwork, artifacts and Belizean decor. They include modern amenities inspired by the beauty of Belize.
Each villa includes 925 Sq Ft to 2000 Sq Ft of living space for you to enjoy. The villas also feature a personal veranda, an outdoor personal dining area, and a comfy hammock to hang out and enjoy the ocean breeze.
There are 1 & 2-bedroom villa options to choose from, with loft optional. You can’t choose a bad villa here, as they are all spectacular.
We absolutely loved our private veranda with hammock and spent every morning out here enjoying breakfast, and some hours in the afternoon, too. The sound and view from the ocean were beautiful!

Our Review of Chabil Mar Luxury Villas as a Honeymoon Option
Honestly, we can’t recommend Chabil Mar enough for any type of getaway, romantic or not. There were families enjoying themselves here at the resort, but it is indeed a special option for honeymoons, weddings, and anniversaries.
Staying at a guest-exclusive beachfront resort, you really do feel like you’ve stumbled upon your own little piece of paradise. Chabil Mar is quiet, charming, and stunningly beautiful, with its own beautiful beach, very lush grounds, and perfect landscaping. The swimming pools are lovely and have amazing ocean views, and the luxury all-villa concept here is unique.
There are lots of activities you can do at Chabil Mar, such as fishing off the dock, paddle boarding, kayaking, riding bicycles, and just cuddling up on a hammock or beach bed with a good book. Or, you’re in a great location to take off on a day trip and explore the local area or embark on nearby tours.
The food quality is superb, and we didn’t need to leave the resort at all during our stay – the menu will always leave you with delicious options to choose from. The staff here go above and beyond to make sure you’re completely satisfied with your stay and are warm and friendly.
